No right is more precious in a free country than that of having a voice in the election of those who make the laws under which, as good citizens, we must live. Other rights, even the most basic, are illusory if the right to vote is undermined.

the debate questions

I read that people are furious with ABC over last night's debate.

They broke the golden boy playbook rules. They gave Obama the rough treatment - and Obama didn't handle it very well.

It is astonishing to me, given Obama's connections to Ayers and also to Wright/Trinity (which has some pretty weird friends), that more people aren't concerned about the suggestion that this man does not condemn people who use violence.

It has creeped me out for some time how these issues are not raised as they clearly ought to have been raised. I do not imagine Obama will make it into the White House without anyone asking him why he associates (apparently uncritically) with people who use or condone unacceptable forms of violence to promote political views.

I am concerned at how Obama's supporters seem to not recognize that this is an issue. I am concerned at how seemingly disconnected they are to what I see when I look at mainstream opinions. I fear that someday, those who support Obama will be stigmatized the way those who once supported McCarthy are stigmatized.
