...apparently she used the word assassination while in a campaign against a black man, how dare she. I guess that he forgot that he called for her to be taken in a back room and...- comment by garychapelhill
Could we please have one standard for talking about all human beings?
I have neither forgiven nor forgotten that Keith Olbermann wants a man to take Hillary Clinton into a back room "and only he comes out". So just shut up about pretending that Hillary Clinton mentioning RFK is somehow this outrageous insult, ok?
You know perfectly well the point she was making and you are deliberately misreading it to make it a weapon - because she is winning the popular vote and this election is rigged and you, dear media, really really need a good weapon right now.
I can see where offense could be made - but it is quite plain that is not what Hillary Clinton actually said. Furthermore, it is quite plain that those who want to ascribe some offensive thing to what she supposedly "meant" are people who are, themselves, totally willing to desecrate Bobby Kennedy's corpse for their own purposes.
Political correctness has been a weapon all through this campaign. It is not proving that Hillary Clinton is evil. It is only proving that the Republicans were right - more right than I care to admit - about the way liberals use and abuse the concept of political correctness. It makes me ashamed.
Media people, I see you. I see what you are doing. Everyone does. So stop it. Stop taking it upon yourself to assume that you get to interpret what she "really meant". I am so sick of that - this whole election has been about people interpreting for me. Obama's plain-as-day words really don't mean what they sound like, while Clinton's plain-as-day words really mean something much darker and much more sinister.
I thought political correctness was about being sensitive to others but apparently it's about power and control. Some people get to say anything while other people find that entire sections of reality are not open for discussion.
And the media thinks that they - and they alone - get to be the referees.
Forget what people actually say. Only we can tell people what other people really meant, says the media. We own you. We own your thoughts.
You know, people always use the word "Republican" as an insult, but I have begun to believe the real problem here is not right vs. left, but the moderate center vs. extremism - on both sides of the aisle.
You are bad for the world, media. Your short-term greed leads to long-term evil.
Stop it!
It is clear from the context that Hillary was invoking a familiar political circumstance in order to support her decision to stay in the race through June. I have heard her make this reference before, also citing her husband's 1992 race, both of which were hard fought through June. I understand how highly charged the atmosphere is, but I think it is a mistake for people to take offense.
