No right is more precious in a free country than that of having a voice in the election of those who make the laws under which, as good citizens, we must live. Other rights, even the most basic, are illusory if the right to vote is undermined.

whatever else he may have delivered, it was never what I would have called "news"....

From the LA Times:

Is Olbermann's snide act on MSNBC
the future of TV news?

We worried in Walter Cronkite's day in the '60s and '70s that a news anchor would sway public opinion merely by raising a brow in subtle response to a story. Oh the horror.

Yet today, mainstream TV and the blogosphere regularly market opinion and speculation as news, and few viewers would be shocked if Olbermann slapped on Groucho brows to get a guffaw. Anything -- anything -- to get a laugh.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'd like news to go back to being just news again.

Nothing wrong with having a real professional deliver the news. I actually kinda liked the days when you could respect those guys.

The op-ed, entertainment, advertising, bullying - in other words, the pure crap - has left me feeling both exhausted and kinda sick. How bout everyone else?
And how many years before junior Olbermanns proliferate?
Looking around for good, reliable sources of news (that do not include the disgusting spew that is our current MSM)...hoping others will do the same.
