No right is more precious in a free country than that of having a voice in the election of those who make the laws under which, as good citizens, we must live. Other rights, even the most basic, are illusory if the right to vote is undermined.

historic moment indeed

ok this is just creepy:

Barack Obama’s campaign is considering moving his nomination acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention from the Pepsi Center to Invesco Field at Mile High to allow tens of thousands to witness the historic moment, sources say.

The move would mark a major departure from tradition, but would be in keeping with the candidate’s desire to build a large grass-roots campaign focused on “change.”

Should the Illinois Senator give his Aug. 28 speech — which occurs on the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech — at Invesco, the move would leave behind the multi-million-dollar broadcast studios and high-tech podium and stage to be constructed at the Pepsi Center.

Major ick.

This is beyond ego. This is choreography. I so, so, so don't like where it's headed.

I don't know what this change he keeps threatening us with but I have a funny feeling America is not going to enjoy it.

let's not choose to not do anything about this one

It feels like a Friday the 13th sort of day...

Revisiting an earlier post:
As Clinton prepared to formally endorse his candidacy on Saturday, Obama said the Democratic National Committee would no longer accept donations from federal lobbyists or political action committees. He said he would keep Howard Dean as the national chairman, but was deploying his own advisers to oversee party operations.
Now we see this:
But the power will clearly be shifting to a centralized Chicago hub.

The DNC's key role in coordinating political operations with state parties is expected to largely be taken over and overseen by Obama's senior staff in Chicago, state party officials said.
So are we just going to give him the Democratic party?

This is too much power shifting away from us and into the hands of someone untrustworthy.

Did you like how everyone did nothing about W.?

Did you like how everyone did nothing about the leadup to Iraq?

Let's not just do nothing about this one.

BE LOUD. Make people take sides. Neutral = doing nothing = acceptance.
