No right is more precious in a free country than that of having a voice in the election of those who make the laws under which, as good citizens, we must live. Other rights, even the most basic, are illusory if the right to vote is undermined.

Hillary Clinton's face

Checking out Hillary Clinton's website, I found this photo she put up for us to download. And looking at this photo, I suddenly realized how angry I am at all the times I have heard it suggested that Hillary Clinton has something wrong with her face.

She isn't ugly. And you know what else? Her voice doesn't "make the angels weep" - at least, no more so than any other grown woman's voice.

(Which is rather the point, isn't it?)

She has rather a nice voice. Not the greatest, maybe - not smooth or slick, like Barack Obama's. Okay, I'll grant that.

But listening to her on her WORST day would be an improvement over listening to Dubya. Yet nobody that I ever knew of campaigned against Dubya on the grounds that his grating voice makes angels puke. (Then again, Bill O'Reilly is excused, on the grounds that he couldn't raise this issue without drawing attention to his own less-than-entirely-sexy timbre).

I like this photo of her. I think O'Reilly & Co. are wrong when they suggest we, the American people, would hate the experience of seeing this face growing old.

I sure the hell think this face will look better in four to eight years than McCain's will.

update: I originally said something rude about McCain's face. But then I realized what I was doing - two wrongs don't make a right, and do unto others, and all of that?

update x2: ok, so I also slammed Bush...and Bill O'Reilly...hmm. I can't really apologize, because I'm not really repentant. That is a problem....I'm going to go meditate on the true nature of right & wrong for awhile. Expect a future post when I'm done solving the problem of world meanness.
