No right is more precious in a free country than that of having a voice in the election of those who make the laws under which, as good citizens, we must live. Other rights, even the most basic, are illusory if the right to vote is undermined.

Howard Dean's rules

Howard Dean has been all for demanding that the nomination proceeding end right now.

What he doesn't seem to get is that there are alternatives - and if he were any sort of leader, he would be taking action on them.

What would the rules of an acceptable campaign look like?

Where does legitimate criticism end?

Howard Dean is the only one with the power, influence, and authority to establish and enforce rules. This campaign could have been about both candidates running a campaign that inspired instead of ending in what looks right now like the utter destruction of the Democratic party.

It might just be incompetence on his part, but I am more inclined to suspect bias in his reasons for not taking appropriate action.

update: there's an article called Delegates to Dean: Make Us refuting the idea that Dean has the power to make the PLEOs vote.
